Where does the name come from???
The Buddhist monks as a part of their discipline in renunciation would/will go around near by village seeking food for the day. It’s called biksha( translating to asking) to conquer the ego. The monks are offered #satvik food and no more then a fistful from each house. So the monks wander into the village , knock on few doors, fill their bowl with variety of offerings. The monks in turn bless the house they receive the food from. I remember placing first full of rice, cooked grains and chopped vegetables into sadhu/ monks bowl growing up. .. If you search for #buddhabowl , you will get carefully crafted bowls and plates like the one I have here. It’s our modern interpretation !! It’s the best way to get creative and use your ingredients. .
